Writer-Director

Jay Foster

was raised in South Los Angeles, staring at the Hollywood sign from his bedroom window. He began his love for film after watching movies such as “Purple Rain”and “JoJo Dancer”, in which both, main characters were telling their story to the struggles, pains, disappointments, and triumphs of their lives. Soon, Jay realized that he wanted to tell his own story and film would be his platform. As a self-taught writer, his approach to writing and directing is raw and unconventional. Jay’s goal as a filmmaker is to tell compelling stories that represent an authentic, reliable, and sophisticated glimpse into the African-American experience. As a student and historian of cinema, his passion for telling dramatic stories that deal with genre, identity, and complex relationships with an artistic awareness is what drives him. Since following his dream to become a writer, some of Jay’s accomplishments include a published poetry book, three poetry albums, many short stories, two documentaries, and three full length films which he has plans to direct. With the book of Osiris as his film debut, Jay will introduce his unique voice into the industry as a force to be reckoned with.
